Meet Dawn Youshak

A reading specialist who understands struggling readers from the inside.

Dawn Youshak brings professional expertise and personal experience to every student she supports. As a proud dyslexic, she knows how it feels when reading, testing, and comprehension require a different path.

Dawn did not know she was dyslexic while growing up. Around age 20, a professor recognized the signs and helped her understand why learning had often felt harder than it should. That moment shaped the way she now teaches: with patience, precision, and deep respect for how each child learns best.

Lived experienceShe understands the frustration, effort, and courage many struggling readers bring into each lesson.
Multisensory supportHer one-on-one instruction helps students build literacy skills through structured, engaging, multisensory practice.
Confidence and hopeDawn helps learners strengthen reading skills while recognizing their own unique strengths and potential.
Her story

From struggling reader to passionate advocate.

Today, Dawn is an avid reader and a dedicated advocate for students with dyslexia and other learning differences. Her journey helps her connect deeply with students and families, offering not only effective instruction, but also understanding, encouragement, and hope.

“Being dyslexic never stopped me from becoming a reader—it simply taught me that there is more than one way to learn.”— Dawn Youshak
Outside of her professional work, Dawn’s favorite role is being “Lala” to her grandchildren, a title she wears with pride and joy.
Teaching philosophy

Students do not need to be pushed harder. They need to be understood more precisely.

The work begins with a simple belief: when a child struggles, the instruction has to become more intentional. Dawn’s approach is personal, research-informed, and built for students who may need a different path to reach the same confidence.

Personalized instruction Every student receives targeted support based on current needs, learning profile, and family goals.
Experience with struggling learners Support for reading difficulty, dyslexia-related challenges, comprehension gaps, and cognitive skill development.
Parent-focused communication Families receive a clear explanation of the plan, not education jargon without direction.
